Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
Classes are held at our Kona Office
73-5574 Maiau St #4, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740
Course Details:
IslandCPR Phlebotomy program is a hybrid program where students complete pre-recorded lectures, answer questions while watching each lecture, and then email the answers for credit. The course includes 19 lectures divided into 5 units of study.
Students can move as quickly as they like through each lecture with an expectation of competing at minimum of 3 lectures per week to stay in good standing.
Once students complete the first 3 units of online study, their first lab is scheduled. Labs 2 and 3 are completed once students finish all 5 units.
Once units and labs are completed students need to successfully accumulate 30 live sticks. This can be done under the supervision of the RN at IslandCPR with volunteers, or it can be checked off by an RN or higher at a place of work before being eligible to take the national exam
Students have up to 3 months to complete the course, but a motivated student can finish in just a few weeks.

Class Prerequisites
IslandCPR highly recommends having completed either a Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Nurse Aide (CNA) course prior to taking the Phlebotomy Technician course to have a basic background in medical knowledge before taking a CPT course.
Background in medical work or training also fulfills this requirement.
If you do not have a background in medical training, have not taken a CCMA or CNA class we suggest you START with these courses than take a Phlebotomy course which is specialized training.
